Granada Day 2- The Alhambra

13 years ago Steven and  I traveled to Spain for the first time.  During that visit we were able to go to Granada but not knowing we needed tickets in Advance to visit the Alhambra I never go to see it.  Steven has returned to Spain and Granada many times since so he has been a number of times but I was so excited to see this amazing place.  (And Steven was excited to finally get to share it with me)

The whole complex is huge and has many different parts to see, the earliest dating back to the mid 13th century. It was built by the Muslim Sultans of the time and it has the most beautiful and intricate decor all over.
In the year 1492 Catholic Queen Isabel and King Ferdinand conquered this last stronghold and it became of favorite place for them as well. It was the place that Christopher Columbus received permission from the monarchs to sail on his infamous voyage.   There is so much history and beauty in the wonderful place.

It did rain a fair amount all morning as we visited other parts of the city but we were so happy the rain cleared up for our visit to the Alhambra

The rain in Spain does not stay mainly in the plain.
