In Barcelona we decided to stay at a hotel (most of our trip we will spend in Air BNB's) It was a good choice. We spent the one full day we had here trying to see the iconic places of the city. The old cathedral, La Sagrada Familia, Parque Guell, and the shopping area La Rambla.
The port of Barcelona is huge and we took a cool tram to the top of a large hill right at the entrance of the port. It has a great castle right on top and we walked around it and saw the views from above as well as the huge port and cruise ships.
We took the long Taxi ride up to Park Guell (the sites in Barcelona are quite spread out, so to see them all you either need to take the metro of taxi, etc) The park is also at the top of a hill so we didn't want to hike it. The park has a great view point from the top so it was fun to see the city from the top of two different vantage points in the city.
La Sagrada Familia (a cathedral designed by Goudi and very different from any other we have ever seen, look it up it is interesting) It was cool to see and fun to tell the kids a little about it as I had done some research beforehand about it's construction and History.
A lot of walking but a great day!
