Santiago De Compostela

This day was one of those wonderful days that you realize the Lord knows what you need and makes it happen in your life.   We had seen so much up to this point in out trip and everyday we drove and walked a lot.  Every day we saw lots of sights and this kind of routine can make you very tired but it is especially tiring for kids.   Most of them were pretty worn out and just needed some free time play.  Well when we got to Santiago De Compostela that is just what the Lord gave us. 

It was so rainy when we arrived we didn't really want to go out and our AirBNB that day was this amazing apartment on the 7th floor of a main building that had a wonderful view of the city.  It also had TOYS.  Most places we go to do not have this feature and it was a life saver that day.  I stayed home with the 5 youngest children and just let them play and relax.  They even played well and I got to relax a little myself.  Steven and Miranda decided to venture out to see the sights.

Is you have not heard of the Camina De Santiago, look it up.  Thousands of people every year walk hundreds of miles on a pilgrimage to come to the place where the Apostle James is buried.  The Cathedral in Santiago de Compostela.  You can see signs all over the whole country pointing the way for the pilgrims to follow.  Maybe one day Steven and I will do the Camino.

Miranda and Steven went and explored around the city and the Cathedral for us and braved the rain to bring us all the information we needed for the next morning.

The following morning the rain stopped just for a little bit so that we could venture out with the rest of the family and go walk to the Cathedral and see St James.  It was cool for the kids to think about how in Rome we visited the place that Peter is buried and the here in Spain the place James is buried.  Obviously we cant visit the place John is buried (because he is still alive) so now we have visited the burial sights of the original 1st presidency of the Church of Jesus Christ of Early Day Saints.
