Celebrate The Little Things

In any kind of transition you should celebrate the little things.  Cheer for the little improvements, the little victories, the small courageous steps, celebrate them.  Well we had one of those today.  Keagan is my tender hearted child and always has been.  Even at school in Storm Lake he cried the first many days of kindergarten and wanted his brothers to walk him to class for the first few months.

Well it has been NO different here in Spain except now we are starting all over.  Here the kids are suppose to say goodbye to mom and dad at the gate and then walk in to the courtyard and line up with their classes where their teacher comes to get them.  Since the first day he would not walk into the gate and stand in his line without us going with him (and we have been happy to do it, we understand what he is doing is a little scary) At first he was crying and screaming for us to not leave him, then just crying when we left but trying to be brave.  The last few days he has not cried at all but still wanted Steven to walk him to his class line.  Well...

On the way to school today Keagan turned to Steven and said, "Dad I am going to say goodbye to you at the gate today and just wave to you from my line".
It was amazing, he did just that.  Eagan walked in and hugged Makenna and Keagan.  They each said goodbye and then walked to their class lines.  They both waved many times from their lines but it was a little, yet momentous step forward.  It may sound funny to be so excited about it but like I said,  We Celebrate The Little Things.
